The Three Addresses That Run a Hamilton Summer

If you have lived in Hamilton for more than a season or two, you already know the calendar is not really a calendar. It is three addresses in rotation. Bedford Street on Saturday mornings. The Daly Mansion lawn on weekend evenings. The Ravalli County Fairgrounds at the bookends, once in June and again over Labor Day. Once you plot the 2026 dates against those three places, the summer stops feeling like a scatter of flyers on the Coffee Cup bulletin board and starts feeling like a rhythm you can plan around.

Here is what that rhythm looks like this year.

None of this is new information in the sense that any one item is a scoop. What is worth pointing out is how tightly the whole season clusters around the same three properties, and what that means for a resident deciding which Saturdays to keep open.

Bedford Street is the baseline, not a side trip

The default weekend anchor is the Hamilton Farmers Market each Saturday in downtown Hamilton for fresh local produce, handmade goods, live music, and a welcoming community atmosphere, located on Bedford Street, May 2 through October 31. The market's own co-op describes roughly 100 vendors to browse with live local music on the Ravalli County Museum lawn, hot food and drinks, comfortable lawn chairs and tables, and shade from 100 year old trees.

Two things about the market are easy to miss if you have never sold there. First, the sourcing floor is real: vendors must be residents of Ravalli County and demonstrate a 50% value added to what they sell. No kits or commercial stuff allowed. That rule is why the same faces show up week after week. Second, the produce timing is aggressive by farmers market standards. Produce is generally pulled out of the ground or picked in the hours immediately prior to the market opening. Most is organic.

If you want to trace where those tomatoes and greens actually come from, one of the reliable indicators is SweetRoot Farm on Bedford Street, every Saturday from 9:00 to 12:30, which supplies approximately 100 farm-member households, customers to their self-serve farmstore on the farm and their booth at the Hamilton Farmers Market on Saturdays, and the various stores and restaurants they supply through their membership in the Western Montana Growers Co-op. When you buy a bunch of carrots at the market and see them again on the plate at a Main Street restaurant that night, that co-op is usually the connective tissue.

Practical read for a resident: the market runs a hair over five months. Everything else on the summer calendar has to negotiate with it, because Saturday 9:30 to 12:30 is already spoken for.

The Daly Mansion lawn is doing most of the heavy lifting

Look at the Daly Mansion's own posted 2026 calendar and the density of it is striking. Between mid-June and mid-August, the lawn is hosting six named public events:

• June 10 — 2026 Summer Season Opening Day
• July 16 — Community Movie Night, gates at 8:00 p.m.
• July 25 — 31st Annual Bitterroot Brewfest
• August 8 — 2nd Annual Daly Mansion Garden Gala
• August 15–16 — Bitterroot Celtic Games & Gathering

The Brewfest is the biggest draw of that group. It is the 31st Annual Bitterroot Brewfest in Hamilton, one of the region's signature summer events, held on the grounds of Daly Mansion, bringing together craft beer lovers from across Montana and beyond for a day of tastings, live entertainment, local food, and community celebration. Thirty-one years is a useful baseline. The Garden Gala is on its second edition. The Celtic Games are always on the third full weekend of every August at the historic Daly Mansion in Hamilton, Montana, and the parking pattern is worth knowing before you drive over: the Bitterroot Celtic Society has arranged for free parking at the Hamilton High School parking lot, and hired a bus company to run shuttles non-stop back and forth between Hamilton High School and the Mansion. They highly suggest parking in one of the free lots and riding the free shuttle bus to the Mansion and back.

The Brewfest uses the same shuttle system out of Hamilton High. If you live within walking distance of the high school, you have accidentally bought yourself the best parking spot in the valley for two weekends in a row.

The lawn is also where the Bitterroot Performing Arts Council stages its outdoor concert weekend. The Summer 2026 Concert Series runs July 10 & 11, with tickets available starting January 22, 2026. It is an outdoor event, rain or shine, with two ticket options. A local footnote worth flagging: free child admissions with a ticketed adult are through the generosity of Glacier Sotheby's International Realty of the Bitterroot Valley, which is the same brokerage family we work under at Your Montana Road Home. The fairgrounds are the bookends

The fairgrounds do the opening and closing of the season, and both are working events, not spectator events.

Montana Mule Days runs June 12th to 14th 2026 at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds in Hamilton. It is not a niche curiosity. They have over 150 classes at the event, ranging from Pee Wee, Youth, Junior, Adult, Chariot Racing, Gymkhana, Cattle Events, Big Hitches, Performance Classes, Trail, and Driving, both single and teams. If you have out-of-town family arriving mid-June and you want a lower-key alternative to the fair, this is the one that reads as unmistakably Ravalli County.

At the other end, the fair itself runs September 2–5, 2026, and the parade convention has not changed: the Fair Parade starts it all off on the Wednesday before Labor Day at 10:00am in downtown Hamilton. The rodeo piece is a distinct event stapled onto the fair. The Rockin' RC Rodeo takes place September 4–5, 2026, bringing together top competitors from across the region for two nights under the arena lights, with classic rodeo action from bull riding and bronc riding to barrel racing and team roping. Held at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds, the rodeo is included with fair admission. Because it is bundled, buying a rodeo night effectively gets you into the fair too, which is not obvious from the marketing.

The one date that changes for good

One event on this year's list will not be on next year's, and that is worth marking now.

The Hardtimes Bluegrass Festival returns to Hamilton, Montana, July 24–26, 2026, for its final celebration after 17 years of bringing traditional bluegrass music to the Bitterroot Valley.

That quote is from Visit Montana's Hamilton page, and the details are the same as they have been for the last several summers: 13 bands, nonstop jam sessions, a Throw Together Band Contest, Bluegrass Gospel on Sunday morning, dry camping, food vendors, and tickets available only at the gate. If you have been telling yourself for a decade that you would get around to going, this is the summer to actually go. It will not be back in 2027.

There is a scheduling knot here worth catching. Hardtimes and Brewfest overlap on Saturday July 25. If you were planning to do both, note that Brewfest runs 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm that day, which leaves Friday and Sunday of Hardtimes clean.

How a local actually sequences it

If you strip out the noise and treat the summer as one plan rather than a dozen decisions:

1. June belongs to the fairgrounds and the first market Saturdays.
2. Early-to-mid July is BPAC concert weekend, then Community Movie Night on the Mansion lawn, then Hardtimes.
3. Late July is Brewfest.
4. August is the Garden Gala, then the Celtic Games.
5. Labor Day week is the parade, the fair, and the rodeo, and then the market keeps running quietly through October while everyone else assumes summer is over.

That last line is the part most people forget. The market runs a full month past the fair. Some of the best produce weekends of the year are the ones after the tourist calendar has closed.
